An adaptation of Beckett’s novella First Love, based on the author’s own suggestions for staging the text, was premièred at the Bob Kayley Studio Theatre, Bulmershe Court, at the end of March 2006. Running for three nights only, this world première was directed by Beckett’s Schiller-Theater (Berlin) assistant, Walter Asmus, and acted by Lawrence Held, who was directed by Beckett in San Quentin Drama Workshop productions. The performance was followed by a panel discussion with the actor.
